List Maniac #20- Favorite Villains

Listmaniac

I'm of the school of thought that, in most cases, you can judge a story in the scale of the villain. And a Villain can take many shapes and forms, it can be something external, it can be a feeling, or maybe even some internal complex of the hero. But there has to be something. When you combine a good hero with a good villain, you'll get an spectacular story, but even if you don't have a great hero, a good villain does wonders for a story.

So here is my list of my favorite Villains.

Voldie
It can be argued that without Lord Voldemort there is nor Harry Potter Series. His crazy ass plan to dominate the Wizard World is what starts it all, and what ends all. When I really think about it, I think it's his feeling of inadequacy what drives him to prove that he's superior. Plus, he's just crazy, his plans so convoluted that you just have to love Vodie!

Dragon
Again, is this crazy woman that makes everything happen. I think she's the best Disney villain ever. She's  a crazy witch who will make a kingdom crumble just because they make a little slight against her pride. This woman knows how to hold a grudge, and I love how she - in true villain form- explains everything to Prince Phillip when she has him prisoner in her castle. And that scene where she turns into a dragon? Nightmares for weeks!

Cruella
Why she's on this list? she's mean toward puppies and in my book it doesn't get meaner than that!!! Also, I love there is no magic or enchantment about her, she's just a woman with a big car and lots of style. Willing to kill in the name of fashion.

Zagato
Zagato is the type of man who did all the wrong things for all the right reasons. From afar, without knowing all the facts, he seems like a run-of-the-mil egomaniac who wants to rule the world and for that reason he kidnapped the princess he was supposed to be protecting in what would seem like a text-book power play, but there is so much more to him than that. But for one person, no one knew he loved the Princess, and that he was trying to save her, but they were caught in the middle of a ruling system that dictated she couldn't love anyone but her country/planet and that she had to die if she did. A lot of people say "I'll kill for you, I'll die for you," Zagato really meant it.

Vader
Vader is more than a villain, he's an icon. I still remember the first time I saw the movies (original trilogy), I remember the first time I heard his voice and saw him rocking that ugly helmet. Vader proves that evil is not just pure evil, that a lot of times it comes from good. Star Wars is his story, how he went from being an adorable, humble kid to the right hand of the Emperor. Sith or Jedi, he is the center of one of the most amazing sagas ever, good and bad intertwined, powerful and complex, yet his is such a simple story at its core, a story of love gone wrong.

Okay, so that's my list. What about you?
